Coviddy Update

My cousin asked how we were getting along these days.  So I thought I'd post the answer here too.

Health:  we're good.  There's lots of sniffling going on though.  I think we're in desperate need of opening all the windows and washing every surface in the house.. but.  It's still too cold.

Gil's Brain and 4 - 1 = 3

On Monday night Gil read the word: "Sun" all by himself.   I may have corrected the long-U sound he was making but that would have been it.

This morning, on the way downstairs, Gil said: "Daddy where are the other 3 summer tires?" He had noticed the one I had time to bring up yesterday, and pretty much did the math on the way down the stairs. (Although, thinking about it, it may have taken him all of the 10 hrs he was up in his room sleeping to figure this out.)  Still, not bad.

Walk to School / Winter Play Day

Except for one block of riding in Uncle Greg's Can/Am Fun Wagon, Gil walked all the way to school today - 1.7 km.  "I'm tired but I'll keep walking," he kept saying.
Jo walked one block... and cheered him on.  Seriously a proper hip-hip-hooray five times for him on the last block.
It took us about 35 minutes.

QOTD - Brain

Yesterday, 20 minutes after bed time, J gets out of bed, sits on the top step and calls down: "Daddy, I can't sleep.  My brain won't let me sleep."

She gets that from Daddy.  Not Mommy.  Mommy can get to sleep in a picosecond.

Koalabeast

The kids had "something like a kangaroo that could hop but wasn't a kangaroo but looked like one - a Koalabeast!" say Jo.  Gil says it that way too.

This is something we should never ever correct.   Wallaby is wrong.

Last week - G Gets a Cough

Instead of coming over to our house, our neighbour JD finds it easier for our kids to go to her where she feeds, plays, and puts them to bed at her house.  Her boys love playing with our munchkins too.  On Thursday night last, E was out of town and I had hockey on Thursday, so dropped the kids off for dinner where they had a great evening.  Both kids were only a little sick with head colds.

After my game, I checked my phone and saw a text from SD who was concerned about G's cough. I re-assured SD that it's just a cough and so long as he's not struggling to breathe, not to worry. (And sorry for him keeping you up.)

Then at 2 am ...
