Yesterday, 20 minutes after bed time, J gets out of bed, sits on the top step and calls down: "Daddy, I can't sleep. My brain won't let me sleep."
She gets that from Daddy. Not Mommy. Mommy can get to sleep in a picosecond.

Koalabeast
The kids had "something like a kangaroo that could hop but wasn't a kangaroo but looked like one - a Koalabeast!" say Jo. Gil says it that way too.
This is something we should never ever correct. Wallaby is wrong.

Last week - G Gets a Cough
Instead of coming over to our house, our neighbour JD finds it easier for our kids to go to her where she feeds, plays, and puts them to bed at her house. Her boys love playing with our munchkins too. On Thursday night last, E was out of town and I had hockey on Thursday, so dropped the kids off for dinner where they had a great evening. Both kids were only a little sick with head colds.
After my game, I checked my phone and saw a text from SD who was concerned about G's cough. I re-assured SD that it's just a cough and so long as he's not struggling to breathe, not to worry. (And sorry for him keeping you up.)

Tuesday - Sick Day
J was up coughing during a good part of the night. She ended up waking up at 4am and saying that she couldn't sleep in her bed any more - it wasn't comfortable. By the time I said 'ok' to her rambling, sleep-addled request to sleep in our bed, she was already at the top of the stairs to our room to my surprise. Sneakster.

Winter is coming. Mommy is away. Coincidence?
Cold mornings are here, in Ottawa. It was -2 C / 28 F this morning so I had to get the snow suits up from the basement for the kids to wear. Of course G didn't want to wear his, so he got "layers" instead. Hats and mitts were not a problem though and J & G enjoyed exhaling to see the 'smoke' all the way to the bus stop. ( I finally found a second safety-orange toque at the Canadian Tire for G, but forgot to bust it out this morning - tomorrow! - if it's cold enough. )
